Migrants continue coming – NYC

NYC – Over 100,000 migrants have arrived in New York City in the last year.  The Roosevelt Hotel has over 1,000 rooms and is filled to capacity.  The past few weeks of migrants sleeping outside on the sidewalk has been a focus of being cleared up. One of many issues need to be addressed to help get migrants to move forward is work opportunities.  Work has to be expanded as per NYC Mayor Eric Adam pushes to acquire help from the feds to get homeless counts brought down.

MTA buses have been provided to clear the sidewalks around the Roosevelt Hotel and transport migrants to city shelters.  Children and families are being prioritized for shelter.  The city has opened more than 200 emergency shelters.  Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn is one site that Biden has approved for migrant housing.

As the issue continues to grow for migrants on the increase also mounts up the expense of the crisis.  Numbers in the billions are being quoted and this will only continue to grow unless a planned program of work opportunity is in place.
