New York City – Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Times Square to welcome in the new year 2024. The New Year’s Eve ball was raised to the top of the pole at 6:00 pm at One Times Square and started descending a minute before midnight. Paul Anka performed the last nine minutes before midnight EST; right before the ball was counted down. Paul Anka performed his “My Way” and “Imagine” by John Lennon.
Once the ball dropped the traditional song by Frank Sinatra was played “New York, New York. Confetti filled the air as it was dropped in Times Square as the music was playing. Performances through the evening were Paul Anka, Jelly Roll, Fio Rida, Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter and Tyla.
