
Fargo, ND – The forest fires from Canada caused smoke to filter down into the area for the Marathon that ran Friday evening with 5K and Saturday full marathon, half marathon and 10K. The haze encompassed the sky but was not as bad during the race that was expected. Saturday morning held manageable temperatures until noon the temperatures started spiking until the course closed at 2 p.m. About 11,000 runners were involved with all the races both days. Essentia Health monitored the Fargo Marathon and provided assistance as needed.
Tucker Ringhand, Ironton, Minnesota took first place in the full Marathon with the man’s division: time 2 hours, 26 minutes, 20 seconds. Cole Jensen, Bismarck was second 2:31.41, Jordan Kurtz, Vacaville, California took third place at 2.32.47.
Erin Forde was women’s marathon winner at 2 hours, 45 minutes, 50 seconds, Kate Bucher took 2nd place.
Munir Isahak won men’s 10K at 33 minutes, 11 seconds; Scott Kvidera from Grand Forks, ND took second place 33 minutes, 59 seconds. Kyle Downs-third place 36 minutes, 52 seconds.
