Minneapolis, MN – The University of Minnesota women’s volleyball team celebrated with seniors and roses before a 25-17 victory over the University of Wisconsin team in a game at Maturi Pavilion on the University of Minnesota main campus in Minneapolis, MN on Friday November 28th between two regional rivals.
The Minnesota players acknowledged and welcomed the seniors on the Wisconsin team with roses and hugs – then: GAME ON! The Univ of MN Gophers were ranked #18 – playing the Univ of WI’s Badgers who were ranked #10. Wisconsin dominated in all 3 sets – 25-18, 25-18 and a final of 25-17.
The Maturi Pavilion has gained a strong reputation of a top facility for volleyball teams to compete against the Golden Gophers. The venue was remodeled in 1993 and in 2017 the name was changed to honor the former Golden Gopher Athletics Director Joel Maturi.
